5 Things You Need To Experience in Beautiful Seefeld Austria
Seefeld Austria is a charming resort town in the Tyrol region just 17km northwest of Innsbruck.
It’s not unknown.
But it is a beautiful spot, especially if you want to enjoy some summer fun on the trails and lakes.
I spent just 3 nights here, but thoroughly enjoyed my time.
And I would definitely recommend it to those wanting an easy drive from Munich Germany and the Bavaria region.
Here are 5 of the top things to do in Seefeld and surrounds.
Walk around or boat on Wildsee
The lake of Seefeld — that is literally “right there” is Wildsee.
And it’s a beautiful lake.
There is a trail circumnavigating the lake that’s super easy so it’s perfect for all abilities — and definitely kid friendly.
Fishing is actually prohibited as the lake is a protected area.
But you can rent paddle boats or classic rowboats to take out on the lake and you can rent SUP’s as well.
I walked around this lake on a gorgeous late June day and just loved it.
While you may be sharing the trail with others, I found that it was also easy to find some peaceful spots.
Time around Wildsee is a must for your time in Seefeld.

Enjoy the picturesque Möserer See
This is one of those lakes I kind of stumbled into visiting.
I started walking on a trail that was headed in that direction.
I have to admit, I wasn’t sure I would walk all the way to the lake — even though it really wasn’t that far.
But then I got close enough and decided I had to see it.
And I’m really happy I did.
This is a gorgeous, peaceful lake.
Don’t get me wrong, it sees a lot of visitors.
But if you walk around it, you’ll find some spots to sit and enjoy the tranquility.
Möserer is a popular spot for swimming as it does warm up in the summer.
I love that it is surrounded by a lot of trees — especially fir trees.
You get some nice time walking amongst the trees.
I think this was one of my 2 favorite places I spent time in on my visit to Seefeld.
The other is further below.

Walk the trails
I walked some other trails beside the one around Wildsee and the one to Möserer See.
I branched off from the Wildsee circuit and followed a trail to a nice hut that served food.
It also had some views.
So I stopped in for a cold non-alcoholic drink and to take in the scenery.
There were other trails to follow out of Seefeld toward Mösersee as well.
I really didn’t venture too far on my short visit but I can tell you there are a lot of trails for hiking and cycling.
I know there are trails that take you to huts and others that take you to summits as well as easy trails around town.
I’d love to return to Seefeld to explore more of the trails.

Wander the town
Seefeld is a charming town in the Tyrol/Tirol region of Austria.
So it’s a fabulous town to simply wander about.
There are restaurants, cafes, lots of shops and places to get ice cream as well.
I came upon a little market the last day I was there in the main town square.
There were locals selling crafts, food and drink.
While I didn’t eat out in town (I ate at my hotel), there looked to be some really good places to dine — for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
It’s small so you don’t need much time.
But there’s enough to keep you well fed and entertained.

Walk to Parish Hill and drink in the views
As I walked out to Wildsee on my second day, I could see this little hill above town that looked like there was some kind of monument or something there.
So after my walk around Wildsee with the detour to the hut, I walked up that hill.
And it turns out it’s called Parish Hill.
It does sit just above the Parish church so the name makes sense.
The hill also has standing stones in a circle — the apostles circle.
Each stone has the name of one of Jesus’ apostles.
While I’m not religious (but was raised Catholic), I thought this spot was lovely.
There seemed to be an open area where it looks like they hold church services.
The best thing about Parish Hill is its stunning views — over the town and to the mountains.
Just breathtaking!
So it is one of my 2 most favorite things to do in Seefeld.
What makes it one of my top 2 experiences is not only the views but that there is a goat farm just at the bottom of the hill.
And I LOVE goats.

Final thoughts on Seefeld Austria
I definitely liked Seefeld a lot.
Admittedly, I probably preferred the Hochkönig region a bit more as it was just so stunning.
But Seefeld is great.
I think I need more time so I can explore more.
The lakes are beautiful.
And there are trails all over that I need to explore.
The town definitely has loads of places to stay, eat and shop.
Would I recommend Seefeld?
Of course!

Logistics for Seefeld
Seefeld does have a train station so it’s possible to train here and be car free.
Most likely you’ll train to nearby Innsbruck where you’ll change trains.
There are a lot of hotels and guesthouses here to fit all budgets.
I stayed at Parkhotel Seefeld which is a 4 star hotel (a bit more than I like to spend, but worth it).
Dinner is included along with breakfast and snacks at lunch.
There is a spa area as well.
Service was excellent as was the food.
The location of Parkhotel Seefeld is at the edge of town away from the lake but a short walk to town and then Wildsee which I liked.
Seefeld is about 120km from Munich (roughly 1:45 to 2 hours) so it makes a nice addition to a Munich and Bavaria trip if you want to add on time in Austria.
