A Life Update (And Some Upcoming Travel Plans)
First of all, apologies for not putting out a destination or tip post this week.
But I’m feeling like I need to do a life update because my life is changing dramatically now that my Daddy-o is gone.
So bear with me as I’ll get back to more travel related posts next time.
I promise!
The big news is that as of May 31 I will be nomadic.
What does this mean?
Well, I will no longer have a home as we are selling my parent’s house.
This is my childhood home and where I’ve lived for the past 12 years — first with both my mom and dad and then, for the last 8 years, with just my dad after my mom passed away in 2015.
I’m storing the “things” I want to keep and then digital nomading full time for at least the next 7-9 months.
This means I’ll be in Europe for the foreseeable future — living, working, traveling and exploring.
This has always been the plan and something I know both my Daddy-o and my Little Mama wanted for me.
It’s a huge change and one that I’m both looking forward to and dreading.
I know how strange it will be not to have a “home base” for a while.
And I may decide I want a home base in the future — 2 years, 5 years or 10 years down the road.
Right now, my life is a bit of an experiment to see what works — and what doesn’t.
I have lots of emotions going through me right now, but I’m letting myself feel all the feels — sadness, excitement, dread, happiness.
So off I go to Europe, a place I love.
Where will I begin this next chapter of my life?
Italy.
No surprise there.
I’ll start the journey for one week re-visiting the city of Verona in the Veneto Region.
Then I travel north into the Trentino-Alto Adige region, specifically the Alto Adige province of this region.
Also called Südtirol or South Tyrol, this is a favorite destination of mine with small towns and the stunning Dolomite peaks.
I can’t wait to dig deeper.
And I’m actually spending a couple of weeks in the Trentino piece of Trentino-Alto Adige which I’m so excited about.
I’ll actually be near one of the Dolomite parks — Parco Naturale Paneveggio Pale di San Martino for some time.
I can’t wait!!
After a couple of months in Italy, I’m off to Scotland.
I have fallen hard for Scotland.
And I have a road trip planned for the first 2 months of my time in this stunning country.
I’ll be all over Scotland — quite literally — going from north to south.
Then for the third month in this country, I’ll settle into one town and truly slow down and live versus traveling to a new spot each week or so.
That takes me to the beginning of November.
And yes, I plan to stay in Europe through the holidays and into the winter.
I have some ideas, but no concrete plans yet.
Stay tuned!
So those are my life updates and an overview of my travel itinerary.
It’s time to live my life — time for that next chapter.
I really have no idea how this will all go.
But it’s been my dream.
So now is the time to make it happen.
I will continue to plan your trips — so don’t hesitate to contact me for assistance in creating your European adventure.
I’ll keep writing the blog and recording the podcast.
Everything with Wander Your Way will be the same.
After all, I need to earn a living.
I’ll just be in Europe more than I’ll be in the States.
So time zones can be a factor in communications.
But we’ll make it work.
I will let you in on a secret — I’m planning on creating some small group tours.
I have some details to figure out with this new endeavor, but this has also been a part of my greater vision for Wander Your Way.
If all goes well, I’ll offer up the first Wander Your Way Adventure in 2024.
So please stay tuned!
That’s it.
A new season of life for me is about to begin.
And it’s going to be amazing, even though I know I move forward with 2 big holes in my heart — the loss of my mom and now my dad.
It sucks not having them here anymore.
And I’ve had bouts of outright sobbing about all of this.
But I know they would want me to live my best life, to pursue my dreams, to enjoy life and be happy.
So, I’m going to do just that.
PS Tune into next week’s podcast for a more in-depth look at where I’ll be traveling to!

I’m soooo glad you are finally getting to leave on this great adventure! I look forward to hearing about all the places you will go. I’ve listened to your podcast about the Dolomites and feel like I know a bit of what you’re talking about.
We would be very interested in a tour. We would love to travel again but prefer a group or a situation where we don’t need to drive.
We keep thinking about returning to Ireland but wanted to stay in locations for longer with side trips during the day and hanging in the pubs at night. Looking forward to what you plan.
Safe travels!
Thanks Karen! You know it’s been a journey to get here, but I know it’s what both Dad and Mom would want for me. And whenever you and Allan are ready to go, I’ll help you plan it…or perhaps have you on my small group tour!
Excited for you, Lynne! Sending you a big hug 💛
Thanks, Rachel!
