I’ve been fortunate to know some fabulous women throughout my life. From my wise and witty grandmothers to my sweet little mama to friends who never cease to amaze me with their intelligence, kindness, courage and generosity to complete strangers who opened their homes and hearts to me. Today, and every day, I celebrate all these women and all the women around the world – women who are as fortunate as me and those who are not as fortunate. My hope is that all women will be treated with kindness, dignity, respect and love. And my wish for every woman is that she knows she is a wonderful, unique, intelligent and beautiful person, worthy of love and worthy of respect.
So today, International Women’s Day, celebrate all the women in your life. Tell them how much you admire and respect them. Show them you love them. And give them the respect they so greatly deserve. I’m sure a big hug won’t hurt either.
