There’s no doubt about it — I’m super excited to explore a new country in Scotland. And very much looking forward to tackling the West Highland Way, seeing the southern Scottish Highlands on foot. I mean, gosh, I’ll really be able to thoroughly enjoy the scenery.
However as stoked as I am for this adventure, it’s with a bit of sadness that I leave Ireland.
I leave a good friend who always opens her home and her heart to me every time I visit.
I leave new friends I’ve made along the way.
It means saying goodbye to a country that truly feels like home — even when it throws all kinds of crazy weather at me…in a matter of 10 minutes!
Ireland tugs at my heart strings. The people, the landscape, the stories, the music, the mystique.
So today, as I board that plane to Scotland, I know my emotions are mixed.
Excitement for what lies ahead.
And sadness for what I leave behind.
But I always know Ireland is there for me, as are the friends I have there. One special one in particular.
Now the next part of the journey begins.
Ireland, I will miss you.
But I promise — I’ll be back again very soon.
You have become too much a part of me.
Your landscape is before me when I close my eyes.
Your music rings in my ears.
Your stories stir my soul.
And your people fill my heart.
You feel so much like home…
You are home.
